Abstract
- This article discusses the change in South Korea that has made giving birth to a daughter an event to be celebrated. South Korean society, one of the most patriarchal in the world, had been renowned for its preference for baby boys. The preference has decreased and now there are fewer abortions after the sex of the baby is revealed. The country's economy has allowed women into the work force and they have become valued additions.
