Abstract

The article profiles British educators Vanessa and Paul Buckley, teachers at the Grange School in England, who have formed a partnership between the Grange School and the Kunta Kinteh School in a Gambian village near Brikama. The author explains how one visit to the area and the opportunity to see the need in Gambian schools led to the partnership, which eventually led to annual student visits, improved understanding of cultural differences, and increased participation in volunteer tourism. INSET: Creating school ties.
