Abstract
- The article analyzes the implications of the success of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in getting Visy to file a plea of guilty to price fixing with fellow paper-box manufacturer Amcor. According to ACCC, its tactic of giving amnesty to the whistleblower may have been the only way to expose Visy which is part of the duopoly that controls more than 90 percent of the cardboard-box market. The weakness of Australia's competition laws is also discussed.
