Moving Forward With Breast Cancer Prevention.

The article discusses following the cardiovascular disease paradigm in which interventions are targeted according to the estimated risk of disease development as opposed to applying a one size fits all approach to breast cancer chemoprevention. Tamoxifen and raloxifene have been shown to reduce the incidence of invasive breast cancer by approximately 50%, but their use has been limited due to concerns over adverse effects. Using epidemiologic risk models is suggested to estimate breast cancer risk.
