Abstract

The article discusses a study which examines the occurrence of viral sequence variation in HIV-specific CD4 epitopes during early HIV infection. Gag, Nef and integrase sequences were obtained from the plasma of subjects. An average of 4 mutations were identified in each subject. The study concludes that sequence variation occurs within recognized CD4 epitopes during early HIV infection.
