The article presents an overview of the nuclear energy in the U.S. It stated that the nuclear generating units may have more than one type of net capacity rating which includes net summer capacity, and net design capacity or net design electrical rating (DER). Moreover, the monthly capacity factors are computed as the actual monthly generation divided by the maximum possible generation for the month. Specifically, the annual capacity factors are averages of the monthly values.
