Abstract

The article examines the social capacities of the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is considered that this bacteria can be easily manipulated experimentally and mutant strains missing key behavior exist naturally. The process quorum sensing (QS) allows bacteria to coordinate certain behaviors as a population. It was found that such process leads to cooperation because it stimulates the release of products that can be shared by other cells and QS can be exploited by cheats due to its social nature.
