Abstract

The article presents an overview of a 2007 study conducted by the National College for School Leadership (NSCL) of Great Britain called the Headship Index. The study, which measured the eagerness of teachers in Great Britain to become headteacher, showed that 32 percent of teachers are pursuing that goal with eight percent showing confidence on reaching it within the next three years. Almost four in ten teachers surveyed belonging to the 30-44 age bracket want to be head and 64 percent of these signify their determination to get there.
