Abstract

The article focuses on the need to bring down credit card fees. Small businesses in particular, complain that their profit margin reduces due to credit cards related fees. It is stated that even experienced merchants get confused about the fee structure for accepting cards. Michael Gharib, owner of an independent gas station, stated that the fees that he paid to banks and companies handling credit cards reduced a lot after he reintroduced split pricing in 2006.
