Abstract

The article reports on the American airstrike in a Shiite town in Diyala Province in Iraq, on October 5, 2007, killing 25 people. The American military said that those attacked were criminals and carrying weapons. The eyewitnesses said that the victims were civilians, some of them armed. The American military said that they were searching for Iranian forces that were instigating violence in Iraq. The claim was refuted by the eyewitnesses.
