Abstract
- The article discusses the results of a study on the use of transgenic and knockout mice in the understanding of the urinary concentrating mechanism. The study focuses on mice in which expression of specific renal transporters or receptors has been deleted, including urea transporters and G protein-coupled receptors. The article also discusses transport processes in Henle's loops, osmotic equilibrium of collecting duct fluid by vasopressin-regulated water transport and osmoprotective genes.
