Nonpolar gallium nitride laser diodes are the next new blue.

The article reports on the study on the characteristics of the blue-violet gallium nitride(GaN)-based laser diodes developed on nonpolar crystal planes. The initiative aims to measure the performance of the systems compared to the conventional GaN-based laser diodes. Information regarding the piezoelectric polarization of the technology within the heterostructure is further discussed.
