Abstract

The article reports on the installation of DE Series UVC Emitters, an ultraviolet-C (UVC) irradiation equipment from Steril-Aire Inc., in Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. The initiative was undertaken to reduce the cost of air conditioning energy with compromising air quality or patient comfort. The equipment reduces the hospital's electric consumption by 20.64 percent, while monthly bill remains at $166,900 since 2005.
