Abstract
- The article asserts that there is no linear progression from ethnic toward civic nationalism as nations continue to make inroads in the realm of democratization in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It introduces the nationalist demobilization model using a simple two-person, non-zero-sum game. It concludes that ethnic component of nationalism need not become less distinguished as the moderate and inclusivist parties gain voter support and the democratic system institutionalizes mechanisms, such as electoral rules assuring fair election.
