Abstract

The article discusses the implications of the minority status of women in science in India. Accordingly, a low representation of women in science is regarded a serious limitation when the numbers decline to achieve a critical mass. It states that acquirement of critical mass helps in giving a greater circle of women to depend on for support and advice. Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology in New Delhi has two strategies to encourage women to take up research after a break in career.
