Abstract

The article discusses the key performance characteristic of processor architectures. According to Gerard Williams III, a fellow at the processor division of ARM, a processor with an ideal memory system never misses in the cache and has ideal access to the bus. Thus, building and implementing memory subsystems that do not affect the processor core's performance continues to be a challenge because of the gap between processor logic and the memories.
