Abstract: The article provides information on the treatment resistance or treatment refractory patients at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Donna Elmendorf and Margaret Parish are the patients who offer their crucial opportunity in the therapeutic community program. The author further discusses that the opportunity could deepen the learning beyond the individual psychotherapy.
