Abstract

The article reports on a study by epidemiologist Elaine Eaker in the journal "Psychosomatic Medicine" of couples' argument habits which was comprised of almost 4,000 men and women. The research found that during fights, 32 percent of men stayed quiet while 23 percent of women held their tongues. The women who withheld their emotions were four times more likely to die within the next ten year period compared to their peers. The men were not statistically different then their counterparts.
