Fanning the Olympic Flame.

The article offers information on the design of the National Indoor Stadium, one of the venues for the Beijing Olympic Games in China. The idea of a wavy roof mimicking an unfolding Chinese fan was adopted by Beijing Urban Engineering Design and Research Institute for the design of the stadium. Environment-friendly building materials were used and glasses were coated with a low-emittance material. Automobile entrances were also designed to separate the audience from the athletes.
