Abstract
- A conference paper about the legislative oversight in Argentina is presented. It discusses how informal mechanisms may affect policy and other outcomes in Latin America. It explains why oversight mechanisms are widely used in Argentina although the country's legislatures have lower capacities than executives. It shows that legislative controls in Argentina are effective only when they impose threats on the executive.
