Abstract
- The article compares Korea's relative level of corruption with that of Taiwan and the Philippines. It provides an overview of developmental state literature and crony capitalism literature on Korea's corruption and development. It looks at how land reform and chaebol industrialization were carried out in Korea and how they affected inequality and corruption, in comparison with Taiwan and the Philippines. It examines several potential explanations for Korea's relative level of corruption.
