Abstract

The article describes a case of a 72-year-old woman presented with occupational airborne contact dermatitis from saffron bulbs. The woman showed positive reactions with saffron on D2 and D4 (+++) during patch test. According to the authors, the sensitizing allergen is tulipalin A, which contains the lactone. They add some cases of immunoglobulin E allergy to saffron were presented including anaphylactic reaction on eating it and respiratory symptoms due to occupational exposure to the pollen.
