Abstract: The article focuses on printing in Italy. Before 1471, printing work was carried out by about 100 German typographers living in Italian cities. However, it was not sure who between Clement of Padua or de Lignamine of Rome was Italy's first native printer. The spread of printing coincided with the Renaissance. From Subiaco and Rome, printing soon reached Venice, and the city went on to dominate the Italian printing scene for quite a while.
