The company will pony up another $300 million for 787 research and development (R&D) in 2007, a 9% increase, and warns it may have to spend more than expected in 2008. Boeing has hiked R&D spending by $1.4 billion since early 2006, largely to fund risk mitigation and contingency plans to keep the 787's development schedule on track.
