Abstract

Information on the popular music in Dublin, Ireland from Chapter 6 of the book "Continuum Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World" is presented. It deals with the history of popular music in the city. The music scene was established in the 1960s with such groups as Bluesville and the Semitones. By the 1970s, rock music continued to develop without a sustainable production base. An experimental approach to musical performance and reception was introduced during the punk years of 1977-1980. Superpubs emerged during the early twenty-first century.
