Abstract
- The article discusses the state laws concerning the implementation of abstinence-based sex education for teenagers in the U.S. Advocates of comprehensive courses express that the program does not give information in making informed choices. Colorado, Iowa and Washington requires the schools to have accurate medical or science-based information in sex education. Furthermore, Missouri allows the districts what kind of programs they will offer, however, it bans instructions from groups from teaching in public schools. Parents are given the freedom to choose between abstinence-only classes or comprehensive programs in New Hanover County, North Carolina.
