Trends in Clinical Presentation of Type 1 Diabetes Among Colorado Youth (1978-2004).

The article focuses on a study concerning the relation of being overweight with the decrease in the onset age of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The study examined the changes in onset age, overweight and presence of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) among diabetic non-Hispanic white and Hispanic youth based in Colorado. Results of the study showed that onset age decreases between the two groups were similar. It notes that diabetic youth have higher body mass index at diagnosis as compared in 1987.
