Abstract

The article looks into the role of consumer electronics (CE) and wireless technology in the future of the industry. A study conducted by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) found that consumer-technology relationship are continuing at a healthy clip because the average U.S. household spends $1,200 annually on CE products. However, the market research firm consider Wi-Fi networking to become a key enabler for delivery and redistribution of this content in the home, particularly for retail CE hardware. Further, CEA study reveals that 33% of future global positioning system (GPS) buyers are interested in owning a cellular phone with GPS/navigation capabilities.
