Abstract
- The article discusses the Diamond-Dybvig model that examines banks' issuance of more liquid deposits than their assets and their vulnerability to bank runs. With this vulnerability, banks and governments alike have instituted several policies and deposit insurance schemes to stop bank runs. The author elaborates that banks issue demand deposits to provide investors and entrepreneurs with liquid assets.
