Abstract
- The article reports that U.S. President George W. Bush commuted the sentence of Lewis Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, who was convicted of perjury in the spring of 2007. Libby will serve no jail time, but still must pay a fine. Bush has used his pardoning and commutation power sparingly compared to other presidents. Conservatives praised the decision, while Democrats were harshly critical.
