Abstract

The article reports on the development of a handheld radar device that allows the identification of damage on concrete bridges by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge. The radar device enables the identification of damage and deterioration of bridges up to 10 meters brought by composite materials. MIT researchers reveal that the radar will promote safety of bridges as well as eliminates blocking of road lanes in times of bridge monitoring.
