Abstract
- The article presents research on the differences in mortality rate, hospital transfer and coronary revascularization for black and white patients suffering myocardial infarction admitted to hospitals with and without revascularization services. The study found that black patients were less likely to be transferred when admitted to hospitals without revascularization services, and were less likely to undergo revascularization in hospitals with the service. The study concludes that the higher long-term mortality rate of blacks may be linked to the lower use of revascularization or other lacking aspects of their care.
