Abstract

The article discusses events related to U.S. politics. The author compares the U.S. government's performance to predictions by historian Henry Adams. The Voting Act of 1965, which provides opportunities for African Americans to vote and be elected to office, was a deciding factor in the U.S. Supreme Court case Allen v. State Board of Elections in which a legal statute preventing African Americans from election to county supervisor boards in Mississippi.
