Abstract

The article comments on the appointment of Robert Zoellick by U.S. President George W. Bush to head the World Bank. Had he been appointed in 2005 in place of outgoing bank president Paul Wolfowitz, the bank, Bush administration and the world would not have faced embarrassment, comments the article. It is expected that Zoellick's appointment will be confirmed soon to help the bank refocus its attention on poverty alleviation and promotion of good governance, comments the article.
