The article reports that the Indian caste system is being dismantled by the booming high tech economy. Dalits, or untouchables, like Venugopal Thoti, have moved into technology jobs, lifting themselves out of centuries of socially prescribed poverty. Infosys Technologies Ltd., a major technology outsourcer, recruits from the rural villages where many Dalits live. In spite of these advances, they still face discrimination from higher caste colleagues.
