Abstract
- The article reports on Pope Benedict XVI who is trying to reduce anger in South America over his speech in Brazil in which he conceded that unjustifiable crimes were committed in converting South Americans. Many South American leaders and indigenous groups protested his comments that native populations had been silently longing for the faith, which was brought to South America by colonizers.
