Abstract

The article presents various world news briefs. Parallels are drawn between U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower's response to problems in the Middle East and his handling of school desegregation in Little Rock, Arkansas. United Nations (UN) Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold has proposed a rethinking of UN policy regarding the Middle East. United Mine Workers (UMW) president John Llewellyn Lewis has urged UMW members to vote for William C. Marland in the West Virginia U.S. Senatorial primary.
