The article relates the author's experience on how she organized herself as indexer, and what she have done to learn the craft in the U.S. She asserted that the Portland peer review, she learned the secret of using the student version of Cindex for long indexes. She signed up for IndexPeers through Yahoo groups and have volunteered to look for some indexes just for practice. Moreover, she contacted at least 30 publishers in which she feel the most competent.
