Abstract
- The article reports that parents are showing little interest in the parent councils set up to replace the community school boards in New York City when control of the school system transferred to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Parents feel the councils have too little power, causing them to lose interest in the elections. There are a number of seats to be filled on the councils that remain empty. Queens resident Andrew Baumann found that he was the only candidate to show up for an election forum.
