Abstract
- The article focuses on a study that aimed at determining a journal evaluation method to identify most valuable journals for research at academic libraries. The need of appropriate method of journal evaluation arises due to the rising annual subscription rates of academic journals and limited budgets of libraries. The study was based on the bibliographic citations in local publications during 2004 and 2005. It was determined that the most reliable data for deciding whether to continue to subscribe to or cancel journals are not the number of citations but their use as opposed to the total cost, and select the cost-effective analysis as an important way for deciding the continuity of a journal.
