Abstract
- The article focuses on the status of research on particle physics in the U.S. In the past, U.S. was the acknowledged leader in elementary-particle physics. But this was about to change when the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland starts its operation. The author suggests that the government must commit resources to bring the International Linear Collider to Fermilab to prevent the slow death of the laboratory and advance research on particle physics.
