Abstract

The article reports on the enlisting of worms and flies by U.S. researchers to make sense of the instructions embedded in human genome. Geneticists are engaged in the pilot phase of a project called the ENCODE, an encyclopedia of deoxyribonucleic acid elements in 2003. A four-year $57 million project called the modENCODE will add roundworms. It is stated that by these organisms, scientists can have better understanding of the human genome data collected from ENCODE.
