Abstract

The article reports that U.S. President George W. Bush, with his war in Iraq, has outspent former President Lyndon B. Johnson with his war in Vietnam during comparable five-year periods, according to the Selected Acquisition Report released by the Department of Defense. The report shows that Johnson spent $2.1 trillion in inflation-adjusted dollars on the American military in fiscal 1964-1968, while Bush spent $2.5 trillion in 2003-2007.
