Abstract

The article presents an overview of the Genetic Privacy Act of Oregon. The act is one of the first genetic privacy laws approved in the United states that focuses on the use of genetic samples in the field of research and their regulation. Various debates have occurred regarding genetic privacy and property leading to the understanding of the role of genetics in the cultural context. An overview of the Genetic Privacy Act is offered.
