Abstract

The article focuses on the research assessment between instinct and adaptability for long-distance migration among wildlife species conducted by Franz Bairlein of the Institute of Avian Research in Wilhemshave, Germany. The research describes the Northern wheaters (Oenanthe oenanthe) as the largest transoceanic migrant among wildlife species. The research revealed that these wildlife species evolved in various countries including Alaska, Siberia, Iceland and northeastern Canada. They found out that these kinds of species shows strong migration genetic component compare from other species. Strong nocturnal restlessness is described as one characteristic of northern wheaters and have an influential behavioral flexibility for migration journey.
