Abstract

The article reports that the quality standards for compost to be enforced in May 2007 will ease the regulatory burden on growers and could result in an increase in its use on farms in Great Britain. Under the standards, any compost produced to Quality Protocol for Compost standards will not be classed as waste. Soil scientist Susie Holmes states that the amount of compost applied on-farm is growing as people are increasingly looking to agricultural uses.
