Abstract
- The article presents a personal narrative of a woman who picks up an elderly hitchhiker who suffers from loss of memory. The author debates with herself how much help to give the older woman, and reflects on the woman's resemblance in spirit to her own aging mother, who was reluctantly moved to a nursing home.
