The article focuses on the adoption of the concept of 4 dimensional (4D) trajectory operations through the NextGen Air Traffic Control project by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research program. Avtech is assisting Airbus on Sesar, aimed at preparing Europe to handle three times as much air traffic while cutting environmental impact by 10 percent per flight. Avtech has also been working on 4D trials at Stockholm's Arlanda airport.
