CHROMIUM CLEANUP.

The article reports on the strategies for remediating the toxic forms of chromium (Cr) as discussed at a symposium sponsored by the Division of Environmental Chemistry at the American Chemical Society in March 2007. Remediation of the hexavalent Cr depends on the ion's solubility. The conversion to trivalent Cr should happen before the metal enters biological tissues. Infrared microspectroscopy determines what plant microstructures are affected when plants are exposed to Cr.
