Abstract
- The article deals with the changes in the British National Health Service. Since the establishment of the National Health Service, successive governments have exerted efforts to reconcile the objectives, minimizing its budget while maximizing its productive. Minimizing the agency's budget reflects the fact that health care should compete with other services for public resources and is further constrained by the desire of all governments to win elections by keeping taxes as low as possible. On the other hand, maximizing the productivity of the National Health Service reflects the fact that a combination of demographic changes and technological advances has increased the agency's output.
